Bible Study Lesson-Outline of the Gospel

Outline For Sharing The Gospel [Gleaned from Will Metzger’s Tell The Truth]

1. God is Creator/Lawgiver: He created us to worship Him and to obey Him and you are responsible to put Him at the center of your life (Revelation 4:11; Acts 17:22-34). Have you heard the story of two roads in life?

2. Life=God-centered Living: God has designed a road that we are to follow by which we can have fellowship with Him now and live with Him eternally. On this road there are two rules which we are to perfectly obey and are for our happiness and safety. One rule is to love God and to make Him the center of your life, and to love Him more than anyone or anything else. And the other rule is to love all people as I love myself, and always do what is best for them (Mark 10:17-27; James 2:8-13; Matt. 5:17-48; Matt. 22:37-40). Have you obeyed these two rules perfectly?

3. Sin=Self-centered Living: Your failure to obey these two rules is called sin. God is holy and hates sin and therefore your relationship with God has been broken. Sin is always punished by God because of His justice. Having become self-centered you are unable to earn God’s love, by nature you are a slave of sin and headed down a road of hopeless eternity (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Are you willing to admit that you have disobeyed God and deserving of His punishment and that you cannot earn His favor by your good deeds and efforts? Do you realize the road of self-centeredness that you are on leads to a place called hell where you are separated from God forever?

4. Good News-Jesus is the Way to Life: God has provided a bridge to Him through Jesus Christ. Jesus became the God-man and perfectly kept God requirements for us and took our sins upon Himself when He died on the cross (2 Cor. 5:21). His actions were approved by God who raised Him from the dead. Jesus died for our sins and has broken the enslavement of sin over our lives (John 19:17-20:31; Romans 5:6-8; 1 Peter 3:18).

5. Your Response-Turning From Self-centeredness to Christ: In light of these powerful truths can you respond wholeheartedly by turning from sin and trusting in Christ as your Savior and surrender to His lordship over your whole life (Mark 1:15; Romans 10:9-10; Luke 9:23-26)? What is your response: A) Receive Christ B) Reject Christ C) Investigate Further
